How do I get between levels while the travelator is closed?
There are several easy alternatives:

- External Stairs remain open and accessible for those who wish to use them.
- A complimentary shuttle bus runs daily during Centre trading hours, taking shoppers (and their groceries) between the ground floor and the top level. We will also have Direct to Boot available at certain times throughout the project.
Is the Centre still open during the works?
Yes absolutely! Figtree Grove remains fully open and trading as normal. All stores continue operating as usual; only the travelator itself will be out of use during the works.
Why is it being replaced now?
The current travelator has become increasingly unreliable, with more frequent breakdowns and rising maintenance costs — and some replacement parts are no longer available. This upgrade is a long-term investment in the Centre’s infrastructure and in your shopping experience.
How long will these works take?
The works are expected to run from 20 August to 5 November 2026. We’ll keep this page and in-centre signage updated if anything changes.
What work is happening?
Figtree Grove’s existing travelator is being replaced. It has been in service for around 36 years and is reaching the end of its operational life, so we’re installing a new, modern, energy-efficient travelator to make getting between levels smoother and more reliable.
